Yamaha Rhino ATVs Recalled . . . Finally!

Rhino RolloverAfter years of pressure from consumer advocates and numerous injuries associated with the Yamaha Rhino ATV, yesterday the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission in cooperation with Yamaha announced a recall of more than 120,000 Rhino ATVs.

At least 46 deaths have been associated with the Yamaha Rhino, most related to the side-by-side vehicle’s high center of gravity and its tendency to rollover onto its operators.

The recall encourages consumers in possession of Yamaha Rhino models 450, 660, and 700 with manufacture dates of 2003 or later to immediately discontinue use of the all terrain vehicles and contact their Yamaha dealer for a “free repair” that will make the vehicles safer.

Yamaha has also voluntarily agreed to suspend the sale of Yamaha Rhino ATVs until repairs are completed on these models.
