Illnesses and injuries can limit people’s ability to perform daily tasks, which can range from annoying to devastating, depending on the limitations. In order to make life better and to improve one’s health, people rely on prescription medication. Due to this reliance, they expect the prescription drug to work as advertised.
However, in many situations, the person in need may receive a defective drug. This can actually put the person in a worse situation than before they took the defective drug.
Recently, a pharmaceutical company recalled 600,000 inhalers because they were not giving the proper doses of the medication to those who need it, providing less than it states it is providing. This can cause people who use it problems, if they use it as a rescue inhaler. This is a level II recall by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
If people suffer adverse medical effects due to taking a defective drug, they may find themselves in an even worse medical situation and be forced to incur even more medical bills as a result. This can be detrimental physically and financially.
People who find themselves in this unfortunate situation may be entitled to compensation for the damages caused by the defective drug. The drug manufacturer may be required to pay for the damages. This may not heal the victim, but it can be beneficial so the victim does not need to worry about their financial situation while they recover from the injuries.
There are many defective drugs, and many people may be injured as a result. As one can see above, situations that include massive recalls happen.
It is good that people will not be injured in the future, but recalls usually only happen after people get hurt first.
