Unplug Your Juul and Plug Into the Truth
Juuls were widely marketed as the safer alternative to smoking. These USB-shaped, battery operated vaping devices store liquid nicotine in cartridges called pods and vaporize upon inhalation. Contrary to popular belief, Juuling does not insulate users from the risks commonly associated with traditional cigarettes. Studies show that Juuling exposes users to higher concentrations of nicotine per dose and consequently greater risks for the onset or aggravation of existing addiction, along with serious health injuries such as lung diseases, seizures, strokes, brain bleeds, and other chronic conditions.
Juul deceptively labeled this product for adult smokers, and their marketing activity and product design clearly indicated other plans for Juuls. Through widespread social media campaigns, Juul watered-down the health risks of its product and planted a seed that grew into a vaping culture, one in which younger users unknowingly compromised their health for a device they could conceal in class and customize by color and flavor.
The Juul litigation was formed in October of 2019 to hold Juul accountable for the deceptive actions that endangered public health, jeopardized the well-being of younger generations, and exacerbated a toxic culture of vaping in school districts and municipalities.
